A Catholic Saint is someone who is considered to be a great religious person. This is an incomplete listing of divine beings and people whom the Catholic Church considers to be saints. According to Catholic doctrine, all Saints enjoy the beatific view of life. Being beatified involves receiving the gift of faith from God and becoming a full member of the flock.

While the Catholic Church does not officially list the names of its Catholic saints, the Catholic religion places great emphasis on the sanctity of the dead. Catholics believe that all the dead will be raised again in heaven. To this end, Catholic worship includes a number of activities that are designed to help bring the dead back to heaven. Among these activities are the celebration of the Day of Grace or Fatima Day, the veneration of Mother Church, St. Valentine’s Day, St. Virgil’s Day, St. Augustine’s Day, and the Epiphany of St. John the Baptist.

Historically, there have been a number of instances when Catholic Saints have been canonized. The first canonization came about in 1086, when the Roman Emperor Charlemagne designated twenty-three Christians to be canonized. The first canonization ceremony was held in Rome. In the nineteenth century, the Pope John Paul II canonized several Latin American and Caribbean figures. In addition to these two occasions, several Bishops were canonized for their services to the Catholic Church.

Among those who have been canonized are St. Catherine of Genoa, St. Anthony and St. Celestine, and St. Hermes. The Catholic Church also has a number of holy men and women such as Blessed Maria Innocentia, Blessed Pedro de Alcantara, Blessed Lawrence of Arabia, and Blessed Joan of Antonio to be considered saints. The Pope John Paul II canonized eighty-two persons including the aforementioned three.

Today there are many Catholic Saints who are considered to be very close to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Some of the more popular ones include Our Lady of Fatima, St. Valentine, and St. Jude. While it may be difficult for some to consider such high figures as St. Valentine or St. Jude as being Catholic since they were not canonized as such, their presence in the Catholic Church shows that they did indeed live their lives as true Christians. They were considered by the Catholic Church to be near perfect saints and have shared many Christian beliefs with the Catholic religion.

There are hundreds of other Catholic Saints that are revered throughout the world. Many of them have become mothers and wives for men like St. Valentine and St. Jude. Some examples of these are St. Barbara and St. Agreda. These examples of Catholic saints give us an insight into the lives of real people who lived during the time of the Catholic Church. No matter how long we live as Christians, we are always reminded about the sacrifices that our church made for others, especially for those who were considered by the church to be “non-believers”.

Some of the most well-known Catholic Saints that are celebrated in the Catholic Church are Our Lady of Fatima, St. Valentine, St. Jude, St. Ricardo, and St. Hubert. While the Catholic Church doesn’t officially canonize any of these, their remains are kept in museums, religious buildings, and homes as a reminder of their heroic deeds and devotion to their fellow man. One of the most well-known Catholic Saints, St. Ricardo is considered to be the patron saint of Portugal. Portugal has one of the largest Catholic populations in the world with some 10 million souls as of now.

There are a number of different ways in which the Catholic religion and its beliefs are honored today. Many individuals honor Catholic Saints by installing statues in their homes and even buildings, or by using them as gifts. The Catholic Church does not formally celebrate the deaths of these religious figures, but they are honored by the faithful. Some people wear t-shirts with a cross on the front or bracelet with a small crucifix on the wrist as a sign of respect. There are also Catholic Schools that celebrate the deaths of some of these religious figures with school trips and banners displaying the images of these historical figures.
